Below are some frequently asked questions we receive.  Hopefully this will answer all your queries, but if not, please check out my other posts for further topics and information.

Q: At what age did you start learning the violin?

A: I’ve been playing since I was seven years old and have had lessons from some very talented teachers, in both piano and violin.

Q: What type of violin do you use?

A: My violin is a handmade German instrument, from the 1890’s. It was generously lent to me for life by a close friend who is a yoga teacher. I absolutely love the sound.

Q: Can you recommend a good violin for me?

A: I would be happy to advise people on getting the correct violin to suit them. If you are interested in this, please email me. I have one violin that I am happy to rent out a very reasonable cost and it is quite a nice instrument. Also, I have quite a few contacts with beautiful, old violins, at a reasonable price.

Q: Do you have any original songs or compositions?

A: I have been composing for quite a long time now and won a competition prize at the royal academy. I am in the process of setting up my You Tube channel, and once my compositions are properly recorded and mixed I will share them with you here on my website!

Q: Will you send me the sheet music for…

A: A lot of the time I don’t use sheet music and work out my own arrangements, however, in the near future I hope to open a sheet music section in the music store on this website.

Q: Do you think I am too old to learn a musical instrument?

A: I don’t think you are ever too old to learn something new. If your goal is to bring happiness through learning a music instrument, to yourself and others, it is never too late.

Q: Do you play any other instruments?
A: I can play the piano professionally. I am also a producer and play guitar as a sideline.

Q: What is your favourite style of music?

A: I love all good music, irrespective of the style.

Q: What do you like to do when you are not playing the violin?

A: I really love composing and recording in my studio. I also love world folk music, especially the music of Cyprus. I am learning and recording Cypriot folk music and will be recording and performing the Cypriot folk music in two out of the five original Cypriot languages. I am very excited about this and will be posting these songs to my website as soon as possible. In my social life I love county walking, gym, travelling, cats, cookery and spending time with my friends and family.

Q: Can I request a song or you to play?

A: You are welcome to submit a request. I cannot guarantee to record it for you, but I will hand pick a few from the many suggestions I receive.

Q: Can I use one of your recordings for a video I am making?

A: This is possible as long as you ask me in advance, your video is not for profit and is relatively PG. You will have to find somewhere to credit me and any other performers in the video, if it is a collaboration, by linking to my website, Facebook, YouTube etc. If the enquiry is for commercial use, please fill out the song permissions form HERE and we will get back to you with details of how to do this.

Q: Do you plan on touring?

A: We are in the final stages of preparing our 2015 Spring Tour, so I can meet more of you in person. This first tour will be in more cosy and intimate venues, but next year we should move up to doing larger concert halls. Please see all the details of the tour on the homepage.
